Windstil, the poem. Windstil, the blog entry.
Yes, I got a poem named “Windstil” which is Dutch for “windless” literally, or in dictionary terms “airless”. Those who only rely on this website to follow the project must think that Illusion of Purity is on hiatus or so, because I realise that there’s not been many news posted lately. I apologise for that, but can assure that the project is NOT on hiatus and I am not planning any break anytime soon. I enjoy the arts too much to even consider that. I just didn’t have the time to continue work on the website for the project, and again, I apologise for that. The ups and downs of life have been quite bad lately, with a few depressive moods coming up and the continuous but exhausting struggle with those OCD rituals. The latter even kept me from accessing my computer as often as usual, so updating the website has not worked out well lately. Several interviews and speech summaries are still waiting impatiently to be uploaded for you all. It will be done soon hopefully. Be patient and understand my access to working on my site very much depends on my emotional moods and my struggle with my disorders.
But I can assure, this does not reflect that state of the project: the project is very much alive and new poems are being worked on. A few have been completed, a few are halfway completion, a few only need some editing before they’re ready. In addition to those partially or totally finished poems, some ideas are in my head. You know, just a line or a few verses that suddenly come into your head and you just know they will be part of your next poems. You then write them down on the first piece of paper you come across, and then keep them aside to build a poem around them. Several of those sentences are waiting to become part of a poem too. One example was lately while walking the nocturnal streets and suddenly the inspiration was there for a 4 lines of poetry. I run into a sandwich bar (the only place still open at 3:00 AM at night) and wrote down the lines on the back of the receipt of the coca-cola I ordered. Yes, poetry sometimes comes up at the moments you’re least expecting it and when you’re least prepared for it. I remember one bystander in that sandwich bar looking over my shoulder to what I was writing, response being “wow, heavy”. Yes, a random stranger asking for a pen in a sandwich bar in the middle of the night writing down lines about being lost in life, I guess this must be a strange thing to the average person…
But anyways, to summarise things: about 5 poems are totally finished, another handful are partially finished, and then there’s some ideas I am trying to put into a poem too. So we’re working on new material as we speak. The moment it is finalised it will be included in performances, obviously.
Also, I can tell the first Illusion of Purity DVD (well, CD ROM) is a fact! We filmed a 6 or 7 poems and a brief speech introducing the goal of the project, the history and backgrounds, and a message to other sufferers to always be proud of themselves. The recording will probably be used for promoting my material while trying to arrange new performances, it is not professional or so but in the early stage of the project’s hopefully long career I am thankful to anyone helping out. A logo for the project is also in its final stages of development and then some other ideas are in my head, and no doubt some of those ideas will eventually be realised in some way or another.
Last but not least: I am trying to get out of Barcelona arts-wise and let my poetry be heard by other audiences, in other cities, where I have not had the chance to perform yet. Hence I am emailing around to other cities to try and find out where I could possibly perform. Not receiving answers for a while or simply finding it a hard search can be frustrating sometimes, but when you’re determined “giving up” is not in your vocabulary. I would like to make a small request though and ask anyone sympathising with the project to send suggestions if you know of a place where a performance can be organised. Use the contact option in the menu of the site (not the form for reactions to this blog as I don’t monitor messages there as often as the regular emails sent through the contact option in the menu) ; emails will be read although I cannot guarantee a reply within any specific timeframe as for different reasons my daily schedule is unpredictable. But any hint for cafes, auditoriums, libraries, organisations, etc where a performance could be done would be great. Tarragona, Sabadell, Girona, Andorra, Valencia, Madrid, somewhere else, … I’m open to all suggestions so I hope to get some performances organised in other cities very soon. The message against the taboos must be heard!
Also, you can help out by trying to help me arrange articles and interviews in serious magazines, so that the project becomes known to more people. Every bits and pieces help.
So stay tuned, keep an eye on the performance dates on this site (it looks empty now, but hopefully there’ll be new dates added really soon !) and hopefully we see each other soon at a performance.
Be proud. Hasta la proxima.
